Jacket
|
A tough sheath to protect an insulated wire or cable, or to permanently group two or more insulated wires or cables.

Jet Moulding
|
Processing technique characterized by the fact that most of the heat is applied to the material as it passes through the nozzle or jet, rather than in a heating cylinder as rather than in a heating cylinder as is done in conventional processes.

Jet Spinning
|
For most purposes similar to melt spinning. Hot gas jet spinning uses a directed blast or jet of hot gas to pull molten polymer from a die lip and extend it into fine fibers.

|
Jetting
|
Turbulent flow of resin from an undersize gate or thin section into a thicker mould section, as opposed to lamular flow of material progressing radially from a gate to the extremities of the cavity.

Jig
|
Tool for holding component parts of an assembly during the manufacturing process, or for holding other tools. Also called a Fixture.

Jute
|
Bast fiber obtained from the stems of several species of the plant Corchorus found mainly in India and Pakistan. Used as a filler, for plastics moulding materials, and more recently as a reinforcement for polyester resins in the fabrication of reinforced plastics.
